The Gateway Prcurement Specialist is responsible for managing the coordination of customer shipments by securing buy rates (when required) and capacity with qualified carriers/partners. Specifically, the Gateway Prcurement Specialist will be part of a team ( West coast Gateway ) responsible for coordinating transport activities by: executing the necessary bookings with our carrier partners and utilizing our booking platform CBAIR. Executing the requisite data entry, generating the required documentation , and liaising with our customer care specialists to ensure requirements are met. All of these activities are to be performed in compliance with rules and regulations governing air transport and associated national protocols.
Your Responsibilities
- Manage and Perform All Tasks Reliably, Accurately and On-Time According to Defined to Gateway procurement standards and KPI’s.
- Prepare, handle and process documentation needed for air export consolidations
- Reduce email communication by using AirLOG Airfreight 2.0 methodology.
- Drive Accurate Status and Real-Time Visibility in AirLOG.
- Maximize utilization of KN core operating systems by using AirLOG BPA.
- Arrange bookings with carriers; optimize cargo consolidations
- Ensure timely processing and delivery to the airport; constant communication with the warehouse team and truck dispatch during the consolidation process
- Understand department process flow, constantly looking for areas of improved efficiency
- Optimize carrier utilization by reviewing cargo flows and collaborating with stakeholders to implement changes that benefit K+N and our customers.
- Negotiate with carriers on rates without impacting existing tariffs
- Knowledge of tariffs and volume absorption
- ULD / Build up knowledge
- Knowledge of in bonds is a plus* Highly important for Sea Air and Intransit cargo movements
