Job Opening: Fabricator – Loading and Unloading

Hiring 1st Shift Fabricator / Loading and Unloading

Scheduled: 7am to completion, rotating days  

Pay rate : $19.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)

• Operate a semi-automatic cutting and welding machine to plasma cut holes, place outlets, and weld a root pass in desired locations. (Internal training and operation certification required)
• Use a handheld RFID scanner to upload outlet type and placement specifications.
• Troubleshoot minor machine errors and adjust as necessary to meet established quality standards.
• Inspect each piece to ensure it meets all specified dimensions within tolerance.
• Perform plasma and cold saw cutting, pipe grooving, and manual grinding operations.
• Cut various sizes of steel pipe to desired lengths within given tolerance and groove or thread pipe ends per customer specifications.
• Operate a semi-automatic welding machine to plasma cut holes, place outlets, and weld a root pass in desired locations.
• Visually inspect finished welds to ensure they are free of defects (to Internal Quality Standards) and remove slag from weld area using a pneumatic needle scaler and die grinders.
• Bundle completed steel pipe sections as specified by the customer using a pneumatic bander as needed.
• Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as Forklift and CombiLift.
• Complete training curriculum including but not limited to safety requirements while demonstrating an acceptable level of competence as defined by management.
• Perform work related tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
• Properly use all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as mandated per job function.  (Welding helmet, jackets, gloves, face shields, safety glasses, and hearing protection provided by the company)
• Perform additional tasks necessary to fulfill the needs of the company and the customer as deemed by the Weld / Fabrication Lead, Fabrication Manager, or Branch Operations Manager.

External Basic Qualifications:

Fabricator / Loading and Unloading Experience Required

•Willing to work a flexible shift.

•Willing and able to stand at least 8 hours with or without reasonable accommodation.

•Willing and able to perform tasks which include pushing, pulling, grasping, and lifting with or without reasonable accommodation.

•1-2 years work experience in a production environment while under time constraints

•Willing and able to carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Previous welding experience with ability to become certified per Viking Certification Procedures and Requirements.

• Ability to move steel pipe on production line (table).

• Basic arithmetic skills required using whole number and decimals with ability to read a tape measure in 1/4" increments.

Preferred Qualifications:

•High School Diploma/GED and at least 2 years experience in a warehouse or distribution center.

•At least 6 months experience operating motorized material handling equipment.

•At least 6 months experience with radio frequency (RF) scanning.

•At least 6 months experience entering and retrieving data in an inventory
