Job Description

We’re seeking a skilled Battery Technician with basic electrical and mechanical knowledge to support maintenance operations for transit buses. In this role, you will be responsible for safely removing old battery units from buses and installing new replacements. This is a hands-on, physical position ideal for someone who enjoys working with tools, equipment, and vehicle components. The position begins as temporary, with the potential to become temp-to-hire based on performance and client needs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Remove used or faulty batteries from transit buses following established safety procedures.
• Install, connect, and secure new battery units.
• Utilize basic hand and power tools to complete mechanical and electrical tasks.
• Inspect battery compartments, cables, and mounting hardware to ensure proper fit and function.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Follow all safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and company policies.
• Communicate any issues or concerns to supervisors promptly.
• Assist with additional shop or maintenance tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge required.
• Experience working with hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy components (up to 50 lbs+).
• Comfortable working in a shop or garage environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work the scheduled hours: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–1:30 PM.
• Previous experience in automotive, mechanical, or technician roles is a plus but not required.
