Description
SummaryThe Welder lays out, fits, and welds steel frames and metal parts using MIG welding and some TIG welding under moderate to minimal supervision. Follows blueprints to measure, mark, and verify component placement using tape measures, squares, clamps, and other hand tools. Uses torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and sanders to prepare and finish weldments while ensuring weld quality meets specifications. Key ResponsibilitiesPerform MIG and some TIG welding in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions. Lay out, fit, weld, and check alignment of components using blueprints and measuring tools. Prep metal components through grinding and sanding; inspect welds for defects.Operate material-handling equipment, overhead cranes, and hoists; manage safe storage of materialsUse required PPE including welding helmet, gloves, leathers, respirator, hearing protection, and steel-toe shoes. Maintain reliable attendance and complete additional assigned duties. QualificationsMIG/TIG welding experience; ability to read English, blueprints, drawings, and measurements. Strong math and mechanical aptitude; ability to work independently or in a team. Vocational welding training or =1 year metal fabrication/manufacturing experience preferred. Physical RequirementsLift up to 35 lbs alone and 36–100+ lbs with assistance; stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb up to 4 ft. Work on concrete surfaces near fumes, airborne particles, moving machinery, and in loud environments. .
