Description
A machine/saw operator sets up and runs saws to cut materials like wood, metal, or plastic to precise specifications, performing routine maintenance, and inspecting finished products for accuracy and quality. Key duties include selecting and mounting the correct saw blade, adjusting machine settings, monitoring the cutting process, performing quality checks, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Setup and calibration: Set up machines for each job by installing blades, setting guides and stops, and making necessary adjustments.
- Quality control: Inspect finished pieces for accuracy against blueprints, drawings, or work orders. Monitor the quality of cuts and the machine's performance to minimize waste and defects.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, such as lubricating the machine, clearing jams, sharpening, or replacing dull or worn blades.
- Safety and organization: Adhere to strict safety protocols, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Material handling: Load and unload materials, and handle finished pieces, which may involve lifting, sorting, and stacking.
Documentation: Accurately complete production paperwork and log relevant metrics
Operate machinery such as panel saws, circular saws, or band saws to cut materials.
