Job Summary
Our client is an industry-leading producer of residential and commercial fire protection systems and related products. As a Fabricator/Machine Operator, you will play a key role in the manufacturing process for all Viking Fire Protection piping products. Our piping is fabricated to meet NFPA and ASME Section IX standards and specifications.
This role operates in a shop-based environment and requires skill in GMAW, mechanized welding, plasma cutting, and general fabrication processes using advanced welding and machining technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate semi-automatic cutting and welding machines to plasma cut holes, place outlets, and weld a root pass in specified locations.
- Use handheld RFID scanners to upload outlet types and placement specifications.
- Troubleshoot minor machine errors and make adjustments to maintain established quality standards.
- Inspect fabricated pieces to verify dimensions and tolerance compliance.
- Perform plasma and cold saw cutting, pipe grooving, and manual grinding activities.
- Cut various sizes of steel pipe to length within tolerance and groove/thread pipe to customer specifications.
- Visually inspect welds to ensure they are free of defects; remove slag using pneumatic needle scalers and die grinders.
- Bundle completed pipe sections using pneumatic banders as needed.
- Operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including forklifts and CombiLift units.
- Complete all required training, including safety, and demonstrate consistent competence.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (provided by the company).
- Perform additional tasks as required by the Weld/Fabrication Lead, Fabrication Manager, or Branch Operations Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work area.

Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in a production environment working under time constraints.
- Ability to move, lift, and position steel pipe on the production line.
- Basic arithmetic skills: whole numbers, decimals, and ability to read a tape measure to 1/4".
- Experience with fabricating, loading, and unloading materials.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts.
- Ability to stand for at least 8 hours with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to push, pull, grasp, and lift materials with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Previous welding experience and the ability to become certified per Viking certification requirements.
- Ability to move steel pipe on the production table.
- Basic understanding of fabrication tools and safety processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED with 2+ years of warehouse or distribution center experience.
- At least 6 months of experience operating motorized material handling equipment.

Position Summary
The Die Cutter Operator is responsible for operating die cutting equipment to cut, score, strip, and blank carton orders in a production environment. This role ensures all finished pieces meet customer-approved specifications while maintaining equipment performance, safety, and product quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Quality
- Operate die cutting machinery to produce folding cartons according to specifications
- Ensure all production pieces match customer-approved prototypes
- Verify structural integrity and functionality of finished cartons
- Monitor production runs and troubleshoot issues related to cutting, stripping, and blanking
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure efficiency and quality outputs
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Set up and operate Bobst die cutting machines, preferably BOBST Vision Cut
- Prepare and manage tooling including universal and dedicated pins
- Set up matrix, phenolic, and steel counter plates
- Perform troubleshooting on stripping and blanking processes
- Maintain organization and storage of dies used in production
- Conduct routine machine maintenance and cleaning to ensure optimal performance
Process & Technical Expertise

- Understand how printing quality impacts die cutting and final product outcome
Food Packaging Safety
- Prevent contamination by ensuring only approved materials are used in production
- Maintain equipment cleanliness to prevent hazards (e.g., wood splintering, tooling defects)
- Follow HACCP requirements (SPC-FS-8-D06-R13) to ensure safe production practices
- Report any safety or compliance concerns to the Food Packaging Safety Team
- Support overall Food Packaging Safety System compliance

Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Operate printing press to apply ink and coatings to paperboard according to job specifications
- Verify job specifications against raw materials before starting each order
- Review press sheets against proofs and/or ink drawdowns to ensure color accuracy
- Monitor print runs for color variation, registration issues, and defects
- Maintain consistent quality throughout production
- Log and issue materials used in the ERP system
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform wash-up and breakdown of the machine after each run
- Conduct routine press maintenance including:
