Job Opening: Load Planner/Route Planner
Description
We have a direct hire opening for a Load Planner/Route Planner in Reno at a logistics company that specializes in both TL and LTL shipments with their fleet of 37 trucks that are dedicated to shipping lanes in 11 Western states. This is a 1st shift opening.
In this role involves booking loads with brokers and negotiating rates for TL/LTL shipments, dispatching drivers, planning how loads are arranged and consolidated in trucks, and working closely with drivers to ensure on-time delivery.

Salary and Shift Information:
- Pay: $30-$35/hour
- 1st shift: 7 AM-4 PM; Monday-Friday (Be on call after hours one week per month; for this work, earn an additional $100 stipend)

Job Duties of the Load Planner/Route Planner:
- Book loads for drivers outside of the customer network with brokers
- Book and negotiate rates for backhauls and head hauls with brokers, and update them on their loads
- Load planning and schedule drivers based on availability
- Data entry in the TMS (entering orders, New customers and/or brokers, and customer specific SOPs)
- Enter load and shipment data into the TMS and verify that all details are accurate and compliant
- Interact with customers and brokers via phone calls, texts, and email
- Assist customers with inquiries about shipment requirements and other areas where they lack knowledge or need support
- Update customers to address issues and delays that occur
- Reduce the amount of time or distance a truck travels empty without carrying a load
- Ensure tractor revenue per mile stays at the required level to generate revenue
- Ensure all shipping and receiving location details provided by customers and brokers are correct
- Keep records of freight rates, lane history, and other metrics for continuous improvement
- Dispatch drivers with their route plans
- Help drivers with dispatch issues, routing, trip planning, and handle emergency calls that arise during transit
- Work with each department to ensure all safety and maintenance can be performed
Job Requirements of the Load Planner/Route Planner:
- Have 2 years of experience working in the transportation/logistics industry.
- Experience with TMS software and Excel.
- Understand Hours of Service regulations that govern the working hours of truck drivers.
- Experience in load planning or dispatching within a logistics environment.
- Solve problems quickly and effectively under pressure.
