Job Opening: Dock Operator –
Description
7AM-3:30PM Monday – Friday.
Operate heavy equipment: Safely operate cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other lifting devices to load, unload, and move cargo between ships, trucks, and storage areas
• Plan and execute lifts: Use load charts and calculations to plan lifts, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure attachment of cargo
• Inspect and maintain equipment: Perform daily safety checks on cranes and lifting gear; report defects or malfunctions promptly
• Follow safety protocols: Comply with OSHA, DOT, and other safety regulations; use proper radio or hand signals to coordinate with ground crew
• Secure cargo: Properly fasten and stabilize loads using straps, chains, and other securing devices to prevent shifting during transport
• Maintain dock areas: Keep loading/unloading zones clean, hazard-free, and organized for efficient operations.• Document operations: Record equipment status, load details, and any incidents or maintenance needs
• Respond to emergencies: Operate cranes or hoisting equipment in emergency situations to ensure safety and continuity of operations.
