Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Assembly Technician II to join our manufacturing team on 2nd Shift (1:00 PM – 9:00 PM). This role is critical in ensuring the efficient and accurate assembly of HVAC cooling systems to meet customer delivery commitments. The ideal candidate will have mechanical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints, and experience working in a production environment involving heavy equipment and components.
This position requires frequent heavy lifting of HVAC systems and components, attention to quality standards, and a commitment to workplace safety.
Essential Functions
- Read, interpret, and follow work instructions, blueprints, and assembly documentation.
- Open, manipulate, and understand 3D computer models to support assembly activities.
- Inspect coolers, steel parts, fans, and drive components including bearings, bushings, sheaves, and shafts for quality and accuracy.
- Use corrective tools to perform repairs, modifications, and adjustments as needed.
- Locate, retrieve, and organize parts required for assembly operations.
- Move cooling packages and components safely between work areas using motorized cranes and material handling equipment.
- Assemble and attach components to cooling packages in accordance with blueprint specifications and 3D models.
- Document completed work to ensure units are assembled according to AKG and applicable industry standards.
- Meet daily production goals and quotas established by the Lead or Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of parts and components used in the assembly of High Horsepower Units.
- Report production, quality, safety, or equipment issues promptly to supervisors or appropriate personnel.
- Follow all company policies, quality standards, and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous mechanical assembly, manufacturing, HVAC, or industrial production experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical documents.
- Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices.
- Basic computer skills and ability to work with 3D modeling systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull heavy HVAC components and assemblies.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment, including motorized cranes.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying noise levels and temperatures.
