International Shipping Clerk (Air & Ocean Freight)

Location: North Austin, TX
Job Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused International Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing Air and Ocean Import shipments from origin to final delivery, ensuring a smooth and efficient freight process while maintaining compliance with company and government regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience in international logistics and freight forwarding.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow for Air and Ocean Import shipments.
Maintain accurate and timely data entry within the company operating system.
Track and trace import files to ensure shipment visibility and timely delivery.
Utilize workflow management tools daily to monitor shipment progress.
Coordinate and ensure timely delivery of freight to customers.
Ensure all required documentation is sent to customers or customs brokers promptly for customs clearance purposes.
Prepare accurate and timely billing for clients and service providers.
Communicate effectively with customers regarding shipment arrangements while delivering exceptional customer service.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including airlines, trucking companies, and other service providers.
Ensure compliance with all internal operational procedures, company policies, customer requirements, and applicable government regulations.
Understand department processes and continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service quality.
Follow and maintain customer-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Meet departmental Key Performance Indicator (KPI) standards and company performance expectations.
Maintain timely communication with overseas offices, customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Respond promptly to emails, requests, and shipment-related inquiries.

Schedule: 8am – 5pm. Monday – Friday

Compensation: $21 – $28 per hour

Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain, or international transportation preferred.
Experience handling Air and Ocean Import shipments is highly desirable.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management systems.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Knowledge of import documentation, customs clearance processes, and international shipping regulations is a plus.
